| (J. F. F.) Mariam: A Story of the Indian Mutiny of 1857, by One of the Survivors. Benares: Chandraprabha Press Co., Ltd, 1896. | This book tells the story of Mariam Lavater & her daughter, who were taken captive after the mutiny at Shajahanpore. As the author, who remains anonymous, states he spoke to Mariam herself and was himself a survivor of the massacre, the book still reads as a semi-fictional account. However, with so few descriptions of the Shajahanpore massacre available, that alone makes it work pursuing. |
