| Cavanagh, Orfeur. Reminiscences of an Indian Official. London: W. H. Allen & Co., 1884, | Orfeur Cavanagh left behind a very descriptive book of his life in Calcutta. However, he also served in the 2nd Regiment Irregular Cavalry, was superintendent in Mysore, worked in the political office in Nepal and as the Town and Fort Major in Calcutta, where we find him during the mutiny. He finished his career in the Straits Settlements. |

I have not used it in any of my work; however, it does give an interesting account of missionary life in India, spanning not only the two places mentioned in the title but also Calcutta, and the NWP. |
