The trials and tribulations of 1858 continue as the army continues its progress through Rohilkhand. In Oudh, an old foe, Kunwar Singh, has re-emerged, and he will soon be followed by others who are making their way from Central India in the wake of Sir Hugh Rose’s campaign back to Oudh and Rohilkhand. New, short-lived field forces have emerged, and the war takes hold again in Bihar. Disasters and successes, victories and losses, all set the pace of what will be a most tumultuous year.
