So the mutiny begins – as I write these words, 169 years ago, Meerut was in flames, and the calamity that would be Delhi would soon begin.
I have therefore chosen a very unfortunate time to start making changes to the site. As you may have noticed, since yesterday, I have been flooding you with posts. This is unintentional, but there is, according to the current set-up of WordPress, unavoidable. I shall briefly explain what I am doing.

Mutiny Reflections has reached over 400 posts. Despite my best efforts to make the site more reader-friendly, it remains clunky and difficult to navigate, or so I have been told. Therefore, I have come up with a novel way of improving user friendliness by creating individual content carousels. Once up and running, these will take the place of the current Contents page, which I am woefully behind in updating and should, if goodwill prevails, allow readers to move more seamlessly, from place to place, subject to subject.

However, WordPress does not have a feature in which I can avoid sending you every single one of these new posts. I have tried to set them as Private before publishing, but as soon as they are published, the emails and notifications inevitably go out. I have one of two options — I can continue to annoy my readers, or I can temporarily take my site offline. However, considering the mutiny has essentially just started, this is something I am not keen on doing. There is another option, and that would be to do one carousel a day instead of multiple ones, thus reducing the notifications for you. However, this also significantly slows down what I am trying to do. There really is no perfect solution to this problem, so I will most likely go with a combination of all three. When you come to Mutiny Reflections and see a “Coming Soon” notification, do not despair. That means I am working at a demon’s pace to get it up and running again. I simply hope, most humbly, you will continue to be subscribers and not harbour mutinous feelings. I ask for your patience and above all, your understanding.

Amid all this carouselling, I am also working on the next series of posts for Sir Colin Campbell, whom I have woefully left hanging on his way to Mohamdi. This is another reason why I do not want to take my site offline, as it would affect my newly published posts. Within the next week, I am hoping to see Sir Colin off on his journey, as there is yet another gentleman we have not followed, and that is Sir Hope Grant, who launched his own small campaign through Oudh. So more is coming as the mutiny is far from over.

In other news, my next book, Gallant Men, has been with the publisher since March, and there is still a good chance it will come out this month. The book itself is a departure from Lucknow, as writing a third book about the same subject would probably have had me in mutiny. I cannot reveal too much at this point as I do not want to spoil it, but needless to say, I am very keenly awaiting the book’s release. As soon as it comes out, there will be announcements on all the usual platforms, but hopefully, I can announce it first on this site. So it is onwards and upwards. The podcast collaboration with Empire Scrapbook is still in the works; we have both been caught up in a myriad of other issues and had to place this particular project on the back burner. However, it will happen, and the premier is expected to happen later this month.

As you may have noticed, the contacts form is no longer working – this is another issue I am trying to fix. If you would like to contact me privately for anything MUTINY related, then please do so at e.chatterji@protonmail.com. I would greatly appreciate it if that certain someone, who shall remain nameless, would desist from sending me advertisements for his obviously meritorious jewellery store.

Until next time, I wish you all a thunderously thumping month. And should you find the necessity befalls you, please do pack your elephants with care, as shown above.

With best wishes

Eva
